This 1937 Ford 5 Window Coupe Hot Rod arrived to me from Arizona and the previous owner told me he bought it almost 2 years ago at a car show after it had been awarded a best in class trophy. That is easy to believe and I am sure this Flame Red Metallic beauty accumulated plenty of other awards since it was restored back in 2002. Paperwork that was included mentions there were 3500 labor hours put in to restoring this all steel classic street rod. The initial restoration was done in Oklahoma and apparently the car had been stored indoors in SW Oklahoma since 1950 before it was professionally and lovingly treated to a very high end restoration. It appears that it was then sold to a gentleman in Missouri who did some additional upgrades and then landed in sunny Arizona. As you will see in the pictures that follow the paint, body, interior, and engine bay look as if they cold have been restored just a few weeks ago let alone 13 years ago! This car has only accumulated a little over 1300 miles since the restoration was done but is definitely set up to be driven and enjoyed. Beautifully equipped with 350 hp ZZ350 V8, Ford 9″ rear end, power front disc brakes, Vintage Air Conditioning, power windows, and so much more! If you have been searching for a gorgeous, eye-popping, 5-Window Coupe then sit back, relax and enjoy. You may be just one click or one phone call away from owning your dream car! As with all of my classics I do have this car listed on my website and several others so if you want to make sure you scoop this beauty up before the next car guy or gal does feel free to give me a call to discuss how we can make that happen. I will do my best to include enough large images, a video so you can hear it start up and running and an honest description to help you decide if this is the one for you. Enjoy!!!
As I have already mentioned the restoration was done over 13 years ago but you will be amazed at how new and fresh it looks!! This is a total original steel body car with a TCI frame. Body panels are amazingly smooth and straight and fit is excellent. Some body modifications include suicide doors, smoothed door handles with poppers, smoothed trunk, smoothed cowl vent, as well as other treatments you will see in the pics below. The paint quality is top notch and definitely show worthy. Since the car has been driven some since the restoration 13 years ago there are a few very minor chips that have been touched up. I had the paint wet sanded and buffed recently and as you will see the metallics glisten in the sun. The welting between the body panels was color matched. There was a custom gas cap mounted in the drivers side rear fender and if you look really close you may notice that it is just a tad darker in color but barely noticeable. All of the glass is in excellent condition. Side view mirrors have led turn signals built in. A third break light was neatly inserted below the rear window. Simply a stunning restoration that will definitely stand out in a crowd and take home penny of awards if that is what you enjoy. Here is a walk around photo tour of the body:
Complimenting the jaw-dropping flame red metallic exterior is a beautiful tan Izit Ultra synthetic leather interior that also looks close to brand new. Front bucket seats are extremely comfortable and driver seat is a 6-way power seat. Rear seat area could hold a couple of small kids and the entire interior was custom done including door panels and headliner. Matching tan carpet throughout looks great. Doors are remote operated and also have bear claw latches installed for added safety. Power windows operate smoothly. As you will see the dash is beautifully adorned in a beautiful dark wood finish which also accents the inner door panels. Great looking set of Classic Instruments Gauges and Dakota digital shifter indicator neatly mounted in the dash. A nice sounding am/fm/cd player with remote has been neatly tucked in the glove box area with speakers mounted in the front kick panels, and rear deck areas. There is an amp in the trunk and some speakers that are not currently hooked up but I am sure this would be an easy job for a stereo shop. The tach is not currently working and the dome courtesy light in the headliner is not currently working. Vintage Air conditioning and heat installed as well with vents neatly mounted in the dash. The adjustment lever for the a/c unit was missing but I recently got the part and will try to have it installed and get the a/c charged up and ready for the new owner as well. All other gauges and lights appear to working correctly. There is a battery cut-off switch mounted under the rear seat cushion area. Lokar automatic shifter and emergency brake lever neatly mounted. Beautiful wood grain banjo steering wheel mounted on a Tilt and Telescopic column for added driving comfort positions. The tan interior looks gorgeous and is extremely comfortable….ready for the shows!! Take a look inside:
Pop the hood on this awesome Hot Rod and you will find a beautiful and powerful ZZ 350 V8 crate motor that has barely been broken in with just over 1300 miles since the build. Estimated horsepower is 350hp with plenty of giddy up for some stoplight to stoplight fun or highway cruising. Mated to a Turbo 350 Automatic transmission and a Ford 9″ Rear end with great highway gearing. Nice High Rise intake with Holley 4bbl dual feed carburetor with electric choke. Nice set of headers breathing out through a great sounding dual exhaust that exits under the rear valance. Front suspension is a Mustang II with rack and pinion steering that handles beautifully. Power front disc brakes stop this Hot Rod with ease. All new wiring from painless wiring and electric fans combined with a walker radiator keep this baby running cool. Everything ins the engine bay is nicely chromed and polished for a very neat appearance that you will be proud to display at the shows and cruise-ins. Beautiful set of Billett Specialties polished wheels with polished wheel plates wrapped in meaty BFG Radial TA’s 236/60/15 in the rear and 195/60/15 up front. This steel body hot rod was built on a TCI frame for added rigidity and the undercarriage looks great with no rust issues. I have a folder full of receipts and info from the build. This Hot rod has a great stance and great sound…make sure you listen to the video that follows to hear it running.
