Well, if you have been shaking your head yes then this gorgeous Monarch Orange ’48 Chevy 3100 may be the one you have been waiting for!!!
If you have been hunting for a Classic Chevrolet Pick up truck recently I probably do not need to tell you just how hot these trucks have been. We have had some amazing classic originals, and some awesome resto-modded Hot Rods over the past few years and they always sell quickly! This gorgeous Monarch Orange 1948 Chevrolet 3100 will not be an exception and will surely find a new home quickly with an educated buyer who wants a professionally restored truck that can be driven and enjoyed, and, will win its share of trophies as well if desired. We located this ’48 in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area where its previous owner pampered it for the past 1 1/2 years while he owned it. He purchased it after it had already received a very high quality, frame off restoration about 2 years prior, but he did add some things to make it his own. He loved getting it out when he was not traveling with his band and took it to quite a few shows where he said he always brought home a trophy or award. After he retired, he had moved to Santa Fe, NM to live the good life and part of his plan was to own a bunch of different cars and trucks he always wanted. He decided he had his fun with this one and was ready to locate a Triumph TR-6 to enjoy for a little while. We quickly purchased it and had it transported on an Enclosed trailer here to the Atlanta, GA area. It was just as he described and I have driven this truck and it hits the road beautifully. We added a few touches we thought the next owner might appreciate like some custom pin-stripe accents and a great set of American Racing 18″ wheels. I will do my best to provide enough large images, an honest description, and a video of the truck running so you can decide if this gorgeous orange Hot Rod should be in your garage next. As with all of our vehicles, we do have this truck listed on our website and several others. Therefore, if you want to make sure you scoop this one up before the next car guy or gal does feel free to give me a call to see if we can make that happen! Sit back and enjoy!!
As I mentioned, this ’48 3100 received an extensive frame-off restoration about 4 years ago. We have a binder full of pictures from the restoration and and it is clear that this was a very rust free truck to start out and was completely disassembled and restored properly. It is an all steel body!!! No fiberglass!! The body is extremely straight and the paint quality is excellent. The color is called Monarch Orange and it is a PPG paint in base coast/clear coat. You do not see very many trucks done in orange which helps this one really stand out. As you can see the door handles were shaved and electronic door poppers were installed and of course there is a hidden emergency switch if needed. The side vent windows were eliminated and one piece power windows were added. The windshield was replaced with a beautiful one piece glass windshield. Side view mirrors are vision contoured mirrors that look great on this truck. Custom rear roll pan with recessed license plate holder. Overall the body is in near flawless condition although there are a few minor flaws I noticed. There are a few tiny rock chips that have been touched up and a very small hairline crack in the paint on the drivers side door. Body panels are extremely straight and overall body panel fit is excellent. The passengers side door is out just a bit at the bottom. Great looking steel running boards with Chevrolet step plates! Custom tonneau cover over the pine wood bed with painted metal strips that match the truck. Headlights are upgraded with tri-bar headlights with blue center dots and additional brake lights in the bed inserts. I could go on and on but I think the pictures will tell you what you want to know. Here is a walk around photo tour of the body:
As you have probably noticed this Orange Hot Rod has some beautiful black and chamois colored pin stripe accents that we had done by Larry at Conways Customs. The rear tailgate is truly one of a kind with the hand painted Chevrolet script. The bed on this truck is also pretty awesome. Tailgate latches are neatly done inside the bed. The bed itself is a beautifully finished pine wood with metal strips painted to match the truck. A nice rubber pad is included to protect the wood bed and 2 oak wood braces are installed to help the tonneau cover fit nice and snug. This is great if you plan on traveling anywhere and need some storage space in the bed that is protected. The truck looks really slick with the black tonneau cover or you can remove it to expose the wood bed at shows. There is also a locking storage chest in the bed as well. Take a look:
Complimenting the gorgeous Monarch Orange exterior is a custom black rolled and tucked leather interior accented in orange stitching. The bench seat has a fold down arm rest and a great set of headrests with the Chevy Logo embroidered in orange. One of the upgrades done by the previous owner was a custom center console that was built to match that houses the Lokar shifter and a great sounding custom JVC am/fm/cd/mp3 stereo with front and rear input jacks, kicker speakers, and stainless steel cup holders. The entire interior has Cool-it thermo-tec heat and sound barrier insulation which helps keep the cab area cooler and quieter. Awesome Tilt steering column with a great looking carbon fiber wrapped Billet Steering wheel. The dash was smoothed out nicely and a great set of Dakota digital gauges were added to give you all the needed vitals while driving. The previous owner also had an updated heating system installed from Vintage air. For some reason he did not also add the air conditioning but this would be an easy add on as the under dash components are done so only the compressor and drier components would be needed. This truck also has power windows which work nicely. There is also a battery cut off switch under the seat. Seat belts are also installed. Glove box door has a digital clock and some nice pin-striping to match the exterior. The interior is extremely comfortable and very tastefully done. Take a look inside:
This truck runs and drives as good as it looks!! Pop the hood on this Hot Rod and you will find a ground pounding, nicely built small block Chevy 350 that we were told is putting out 370 horsepower. some of the details we were given on the build include: 4 bolt main, bored . 40 over, Comp cam, 10:1 compression, hydraulic tappets, Edelbrock performer intake and Edelbrock 600cfm 4bbl. carburetor. This motor breathes out a great set of Hedman headers through an awesome sounding dual flow master super 44 exhaust. GM 5 1/2 qt. oil pan with high volume oil pump. This motor runs nice and cool thanks to the Billet Specilaties aluminum radiator and electric fans. Completely rebuilt Turbo 350 Automatic transmission with B&M shift kit and 2400 rpm stall converter. This truck shifts strong and smooth launching you to speed when needed and capable of cruising at highway speeds with ease. This truck handles the road beautifully thanks to the Chevy S10 front clip integrated in to the stock frame, as well as the 3:23 posi rear end. Front suspension has coil overs and shocks and rear has leaf springs with adjustable air shocks. ECI engineered power front disc brakes have this truck stopping with ease. Power steering makes handling a breeze and this truck has an awesome stance thanks to being lowered 5″ up front and 4″ in rear plus a gorgeous set of practically brand new 18″ American Racing Tinted Torq thrust wheels wrapped in practically brand new Sumitomo Radials. As you will see the frame was stripped and painted body color when the frame off restoration was done and it still looks fantastic underneath this truck. You could put mirrors under this one at the shows for sure. The engine bay is nicely dressed up and detailed as well. We have a huge binder with photos of the restoration and details of all the work done plus quite a few receipts from the previous owner of what he did to the truck. This ’48 Hot Rod is turn key ready to be driven and enjoyed!!!!
