This 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster replica is truly in near flawless, showroom condition with just under 850 miles on it and nicely loaded. That’s right I did say replica but not just any replica. This car was hand built by Vintage Speedster out of California and is not a kit car. Vintage Speedster is the #1 builder of these cars producing more of them than any other builder and their quality and fit and finish is top notch. They use a custom built, jig welded 2″x4″ 11 gauge steel frame. This rigid structure retains the original VW floorpan designed by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and integrates the largest frame possible. In addition the steering is slightly offset just like in the originals. While the original 356 Speedsters are very rare to find, these Vintage Speedster built replicas are also rare with only a little over 3000 built.  I have owned over a dozen of these and with the prices of the real ones going through the roof can definitely say that these are a tremendous value that offer all of the fun factor of the real deal at a fraction of the price. Even avid Porsche enthusiasts have a difficult time telling these from the real ones. In addition to being a great value this Speedster is also a blast to drive and handles the road beautifully!!

I will do my best to provide you with enough large images, a video of the car running and an honest description to help you decide if this is the awesome little Speedster you have been looking for. As with all of my classics I do have it listed for sale on my website and several others. So, if you want to scoop it up before the next car guy or gal does I would recommend you call me at 770-359-8400 to discuss how we can make that happen.
This particular gray beauty was built in 2015 and a dealer in California sold it to a woman in Manhattan beach in 2016. This was her dream car and she loved driving it as a beach cruiser on the weekends. However, her busy schedule meant she rarely got to enjoy it.  Then she was offered a fantastic job opportunity in Australia and the reality set in that she would have to let her baby go. Unfortunate for her but extremely lucky for the next lucky owner…maybe you!!? I had the car transported in an Enclosed Trailer to my showroom here in Alpharetta, GA just outside of Atlanta.  As you will see in the pics below the body on this Shark Gray Speedster is basically flawless!! Overall paint quality and fit and finish are great. Doors open and close as solid as a real Porsche. Porsche badging adds to the authenticity and a nice chrome luggage rack sits on the engine deck lid so you can strap a picnic basket or vintage piece of luggage for a fun adventure. I will say the car is near flawless as there might be a tiny rock chip or two I missed in my inspection but I am confident that the next lucky owner is going to be thrilled with the condition!! The color is really stunning in person. It takes on a darker tone at night or in the shade and lighter in the bright sun light. Here is a walk around tour of the exterior:

Hopefully the next lucky owner will enjoy this Speedster with the top down as often as possible but it is also nice to know that if needed this 356 Replica does have a great black convertible top that is easy to put up and down. It also has a nice set of window inserts that look to have never been used and come in a nice case that can store in the front trunk area. When the top is down a great fitting black boot cover gives the car a nice clean look. Here are some pics with the top up:

Complimenting the Shark gray exterior is a beautiful Merlot Red interior that also is basically flawless. Seats are very comfortable and show no wear. Beautiful Cherry wood steering wheel with Porsche badge horn button really sets the interior off nicely. Simplistic, authentic looking gauges in the dash all appear to be working correctly and the Speedometer/Odometer are in Kilometers. Rear seat pad to match but truth be told this is more of a storage shelf than a seat. Dash pad, door panels, carpeting, all look like new. If needed this Speedster does have heat for cool weather drives with the control lever next to the e-brake handle between the seats. This Speedster also has a nice Vintage looking Stereo mounted under the dash that is actually digital and has plugs for your iPod or phone to listen to all of your favorite tunes. I recommend the sweet sound of the exhaust though. Check out the interior:

I have been fortunate enough to own over a dozen of these Vintage Speedsters and recall being a little skeptical of just how fun they would be to drive when I got my first one. Well, after driving the first one I was immediately a fan and can truly say that this Shark Gray one is as fun to drive as any I have owned and may have the strongest motor to date. When the woman bought this Speedster she was a little disappointed with the way the 1600cc motor was performing and brought it to a VW and Porsche Specialist in Manhattan Beach, CA to get their opinion. The unfortunate news was that the case on the motor was bad and they recommended replacing the motor. While she was disappointed to hear that the upside was that they promised to build her a 1776 Dual carb motor that would surpass her performance expectations while still having perfect road manners for every day driving.  This motor has a slight cam and full flow heads that definitely add to the fun factor! I have the receipt for the motor build which was built and installed about 250 miles ago in December 2016 so it basically has just been broken in and pulls nice and hard through all 4 gears! The car has just 1350 km which is about 850 miles.  Transmission is the 3.88 freeway flyer which makes it great to drive at highways speeds. Braking is easy and true thanks to the front disc brakes. Great tone from he dual exhaust as you will hear in the video that follows. These cars are super easy to maintain with just an occasional valve adjustment that any air cooled mechanic can handle.  Undercarriage looks great and the front trunk area provides enough room for a small price of luggage for those weekend excursions. Tires look close to brand new. There is nothing this car needs but you in the drivers seat!!!!
