I have bought and sold used 356 Speedster Replicas, built by various manufacturers , for over 10 years so I have seen quite a few. These cars are built on custom shortened, reconditioned VW chassis with a reinforced steel sub frame. The car is actually titled as a 1972 VW utilizing the vin number of the VW pan used. The hand laid fiberglass body is top quality and workmanship is second to none. Building Porsche Replicas since 1995 the builders motto is “Quality over quantity” and I can attest to the high level of quality he is producing. In fact, it was because of this attention to detail and quality that I made the commitment to be a dealer for his product. This particular BRAND NEW build was done in an authentic 1957 color called Auratium Green. It is absolutely stunning and looks a little darker in the shade or at night and has a softer hue in the bright sunlight. The fit and finish most likely exceeds the original. As you will see, this one is equipped with front and rear bumper guards as well as additional driving lights. We went with the European red/yellow taillights on this one as well. The body is adorned with Porsche badging on the nose, rear and dash. Since this is a BRAND NEW build with under 10 test miles the paint and body are essentially flawless. I always recommend driving these cars top down but of course it also has a brand new canvas soft top in a light tan color. Window inserts are also provided and a matching boot cover when the top is down for a clean, sophisticated look.
Complementing the authentic Auratium Green exterior is an equally authentic light tan interior. The Speedster seats are very comfortable. Door panels are beautifully customized with closing document pockets and polished door pulls. Matching dash pad and passenger side grab handle. Period correct VDO gauges with a digital odometer allow the driver to monitor the speed and performance of this air cooled Speedster. Beautiful Ivory Banjo steering wheel with a Porsche horn button and vintage style turn signal lever adds to the authenticity. This 356 is also optioned with heated seats for both driver and passenger for those of you in cooler climates. Shelf pad behind the front seats. Tan carpeting throughout and a custom set of Coco mats have been added for that finishing touch. Simply gorgeous interior!!!
Turn the key and let the fun begin!!! As impressed as I was with the cosmetic improvements on these new builds I am equally impressed with the performance these new cars offer. The 1914 cc. is a brand new, fully balanced motor with top quality components from CB Performance. Rated at 110 hp with the dual Kadron carburetors and 8.2:1 compression ratio this motor pulls strong and crisp. I would be happy to provide more technical data on the engine build for those who need it. Transmission is a 4.12 ring and pinion with a .82 4th gear. This combination provides excellent torque and acceleration in 1st-3rd and also allows easy highway cruising at 75 mph in 4th. Empi 5 lug 5x205mm 4 wheel disc brakes stop this Speedster precisely with ease. Other features include electronic ignition, stock dog house oil cooler and remote 72pass oil cooler with electric fan thermostatically controlled, silver powder coated Vintage 190 Aluminum 5 lug wheels, and more. Great vintage tone from the dual tip exhaust. The undercarriage is also nicely detailed and floorpan protected with a bed liner material to ensure it lasts the test of time.
