This Mango Green 1960 Euro Model VW Beetle is a true attention getting classic that received an extensive pan-off restoration about 2 1/2 years ago. The previous owner in Tennessee bought the car about 6 years ago and after using it as an occasional driver decided to treat it to a full restoration to bring it back to its original glory. Well, ok, not completely original as he also wanted to give it a cool California look. This included lowering it a bit, setting it up on a sweet set of BRM wheels, upgrading the motor and adding front disc brakes. He wanted a cool V-dub that would turn heads but could be driven and enjoyed. I think you will agree that he accomplished his goal and this is one sweet classic Beetle! I was told he only put about 1000 miles on it after it was completed and he had his fun but was ready to move on to another car on his bucket list. I had it transported in an enclosed trailer and now it is ready for the next lucky owner to enjoy…maybe you??!! As will all of my classics I have this VW listed on several other websites in addition to my own. If you decide this is the one for you feel free to give me a call to discuss how we can make that happen before the next car guy or gal scoops it up. I am also a transport broker and get you a great rate on open or enclosed transport anywhere in the US. I also welcome overseas buyers and can assist in getting the car to the port of your choice. I will do my best to provide you with enough large images, a video so you can hear it running, and an honest description to help you decide if this VW should be in your garage. Sit back and enjoy!
As I mentioned this ’60 VW received a professional, pan off restoration about 2 1/2 years ago. The paint color is Mango Green which is a correct original color and it looks fantastic. Body is extremely solid and straight with no rust issues. This was a European model which means it has the super cool semaphore turn signals that pop out and blink from between the front and rear windows. They were not originally working when we got the car but my technician was able to get them going and you can see them operate in the video that follows. All of the chrome and trim looks close to new. Some slight modifications from original include the deletion of the bumper over riders and the front fenders have newer style turn signals mounted as well. Body panel fit is excellent. Although it is not flawless, it is pretty darn close. I noticed a few minor rock chips that have been touched up and a small scrape in the paint under the front trunk lid that you cannot see unless you are laying on the ground.
glass all looks great and weatherstripping was all replaced.  This car will win its share of trophies at the local shows and cruise-ins if that is what you enjoy. I think the walk around  photo tour of the body will show you just how nice this Mango ’60 Beetle is. Have a look:

Complimenting the nostalgic Mango Green exterior is a matching Mango Green and tan interior that looks practically brand new. Everything has been replaced at the time of restoration. Check out the two tone door panels and original front and rear seats. Headliner was replaced with the upgraded mohair style, not the cheap vinyl type. The dash is so simplistic but looks so classy with all new ivory colored knobs and chrome trim. Awesome ivory and chrome steering wheel with the Wolfsburg emblem center cap. Tucked away inside the glove box is a modern am/fm/cd stereo unit with speakers neatly mounted below the rear seat. Electrical was upgraded to 12V and completely redone.  4-speed Shifter was upgraded to a Gene Berg Shifter which shifts smoothly. Tan carpeting accents the Mango Green beautifully. As you will see in the pics below the interior truly looks showroom fresh.

This sweet little Beetle is powered by a completely rebuilt 1600cc motor that is nicely detailed. Decoding the engine number prefix AE tells me it would have been a stock 48hp motor. So is it fast? Heck no…but is it cool…Heck yes!!! These little 1600cc motors will get you down the road easily and can handle highway speeds no problem. With the 3.88 Freeway flyer transmission gears it can cruise at 65 mph no problem. I was told it was a fresh rebuild at the time of restoration and probably only has about 1000 miles on it since then. With the Gene Berg Shifter it shifts through the gears nice and smooth. As you have noticed this ’60 VW has a nice stance and has been lowered a bit with an adjustable front beam and rear lowering plates.  Brakes were upgraded to front disc and stop nicely.  This little VW handles nicely and sits on a. cool set of BRM wrapped in like new Goodyear 195/65/15 rubber up front and 205/55/15 in back. Dual chrome tip exhaust has a nice classic VW tone and you can hear it start up and running in the video below.

Inside the front trunk you will find a new fuel tank and a nicely carpeted area that again looks close to new. The undercarriage and floorpans look as good as the exterior. Floorpans were replaced and were done professionally so you can’t really tell. Absolutely no rust issues under this near 60 yr. old classic! As this was a pan-off restoration you will see that the inner fenders wear the matching Mango color exterior.
Make sure you take a few minutes to watch and listen to the video that follows to see and hear this baby running and see the Semaphore turn signals in action!
