This beautiful Red ’67 Ford Mustang Convertible arrived to us recently from Washington State where it lived its entire life. It is an R-code San Jose, California production car that was built for the Seattle Ordering District and sold new at Robinson & Lyon Ford in Renton, Washington. The gentleman who we purchased the car from lived in Renton Washington and purchased the car 17 years ago. He believes he was the third owner and when he got the car it was in fantastic original condition overall but was in the need of a cosmetic restoration. Over the course of his 17 years of ownership the car received a very high level, professional restoration and the complete original drive train was gone through, rebuilt, and now looks and runs as good, if not better, then it did off the showroom floor in 1967. It is believed to have just under 100,000 original miles with less then 10,000 miles on it since the restoration was completed.  As you will see it truly is breath taking to look at and drives as nicely as it looks! This Classic Pony convertible is turn key ready for the local shows, cruise-ins, or any sunny day drive you want to enjoy it on. I will do my best to provide enough large images, a video so you can hear it running,  and an honest description so you can decide if this Sweet Classic Pony belongs in your stable.  Sit back and enjoy!

As you have probably already noticed the body and paint quality on this ’67 Convertible are outstanding. A gentleman I have gotten to know locally, who has been doing high end restorations of  Classic Mustangs for over 20 years, recently saw this car and was extremely impressed with the fit and finish of this car.  I am the first to admit that not all cars look as good in person as they may appear in pictures on the internet but I am quite confident that the lucky future owner of this car will absolutely not be disappointed with the quality of this car. The previous owner had the restoration done about 13 years ago however you would think it was completed just weeks ago and truly looks as nice or probably nicer then it did off the showroom floor in 1967. After the restoration it was enjoyed at local shows and cruise ins but rarely driven otherwise.  As the MARTI report shows the only real change that was made was the paint color. This car was originally Vintage Burgundy but the previous owner loved Red and chose a color he called Fire Radiant Red. To me the color is very close to the Ford Candy Apple Red color.  He told me that there were absolutely no rust issues on the body at the time of restoration. He said they did replace the passenger rear quarter panel because of a dent, however any work that was done was done to a very high level.  The body panel alignment and fit is top notch!! Body panels are extremely straight and you can look down the sides of this beauty and the only thing waving back at you will be your reflection.  AS shown on the MARTI report this Mustang was originally equipped with the Rocker panel moldings and Exterior decor group and all of this chrome trim looks fantastic. Bumpers, emblems, door handles and all exterior trim looks practically brand new.  You will also notice this ’67 has the deluxe hood with the turn signals recessed which of course are working.  The body is truly just about flawless but just to be safe lets say that there may be a rock chip or two that I have not noticed. You will not find a single bubble or sign of rust along the body anywhere.  This Classic Pony Convertible will definitely wins its shares of trophies at local and maybe even national shows if that is what you enjoy.  This Mustang should please even the pickiest of buyers and hopefully the pictures that follow will demonstrate the quality. Enjoy the tour:

While I always recommend driving these Classic Mustang Convertibles with the top down as much as possible it also nice to know that this awesome Pony also has a beautiful, power convertible top that looks and operates like new. The black top accents the gorgeous red color nicely and the rear window is crystal clear.  The black boot cover snaps on easily when the top is down to provide a neat finished look.  When you open the drivers side door and look inside this ’67 Mustang you will think you are on the Ford Dealership showroom floor looking at a brand new car. Everything inside truly looks showroom fresh. From the door panels to the dash pad, carpeting, seat covers, and center console, it all looks like new. Again, amazing that it was restored almost 13 years ago. It is again a testament to the high quality of restoration that was performed and the care the car received afterwards…this car was truly pampered!! Gauges are all crystal clear and all seem to be functioning correctly. The only non-stock items inside appear to be the nice woodgrain steering wheel and the Pony floor mats that were added. Original AM radio still in the dash that I believe is still working. Very difficult to pick apart anything on the interior of this sweet ‘stang. Interior and Convertible top are also show ready….have a look.

The previous owner of 17 years told me that he also had the motor and complete drive train rebuilt at the time of restoration. He could not recall exactly was done but basically said he asked them to pull the motor and replace or rebuild anything that appeared to be worn. As he described it to me, it runs as good or better then when it was new and I would agree. This is an original C-code 289 V8 2bbl car and nothing was changed in that regard. The original C-4  Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic Automatic transmission was rebuilt and shifts strong and smooth. Original 2:79 gears in the rear make this an awesome highway cruiser. As you will see in the pics everything in the engine bay is very stock in appearance with a nice set of Mustang Valve covers added to dress it up a bit. Original style Hoses, Clamps, cadmium bolts etc.were used to keep the engine bay authentic and show worthy. Stock manifolds lead back to an updated dual exhaust with a great set of mufflers that provide a sweet pony rumble at acceleration but nice and quiet at idle. Pertronix ignition was added replacing the original points system for reliable starts. This is an original Power Steering car and it steers with ease and tracks true and straight at all speeds.  Braking is quite easy partially thanks to the upgraded front disc brakes and all new brake lines. New fuel tank and fuel lines as well at the time of restoration. All of the front and rear suspension was also completely redone and help give this Classic ’67 a great stance and handle the road with ease quietly.  Be sure to listen to the video that follows to hear this Pony start up and running.  She is ready to be driven anywhere you want to take her!!!

Of course the inside of the trunk and undercarriage also look great and are as rust free and solid as the rest of the car. The trunk has an original style plaid trunk mat and an aftermarket carpeted trunk mat that matches the floor mats inside the car. Floor pans and torque boxes are rock solid and believed to be original although the previous owner thought that they may have replaced the passenger side rear floorpan at the time of restoration. They treated the undercarriage with a Por 15 rust prohibitor and as you will see the undercarriage is nicely detailed and looks great. At some point the original wheels and hub caps were upgraded to an original type set of Styled Steel wheels with the correct 1967 Blue center caps. The wheels are wrapped in a close to brand new set of Goodyear White wall radial tires that offer a great, smooth ride.  The original Vin # stamping is still on the drivers side inner fender and I have a MARTI report which shows how this car was originally built at the San Jose, CA production facility on February 25, 1967.  We ordered a new door plate which will be attached to the drivers side door or included with the car at the time of purchase. This is a beautiful and solid Pony everywhere you look. Take a look:
