Allow me introduce you to this Sweet Little ’55 Big Window Chevrolet Pick up affectionately nicknamed “Nana Split” by the gentleman who built her. The gentleman we acquired this Sweet Hot Rod Pick Up truck was from North Carolina and he builds one to two trucks a year as a hobby. He had purchased this truck out of South Carolina where it had spent all its life he was told. The previous owner had the truck since 1983 and had started the project but never finished it. He told the previous owner that the body was completely original and rust free other then a few small spots in the cab corners which he took care of with new metal. The gentleman we bought the truck from did an extensive restoration and did a fantastic job. After the body had been stripped to bare metal he decided to go with the Hot Rod Flatz paint to really set this truck apart from so many he had seen. He went with a Cream Yellow color on the body accented with a Vanilla Shake color on the roof . He enjoys giving each of his trucks a nickname and the color combination of this one just shouted banana split so it affectionately took on the name “Nana Split”. This truck really has all the goodies without going over the top. A ground pounding, mildly built 454 V8 mated to a 700R4 Automatic, Power Steering, Power front disc brakes, Vintage Air Conditioning, and more! There are only about 100 miles on this truck since it was completed!! This truck is ready for fun and is definitely one you can drive and enjoy and take to the local shows and cruise-ins and come home with your share of trophies if that is what you enjoy. I will do my best to provide enough large images, a video of the truck starting up and running, and an honest description to help you decide if Nana Split should be sitting in your garage before the next car guy or gal scoops it up! As with all of our classics we do have this truck advertised on our website and several others so if you are a serious buyer, feel free to give me a call.
As you will see in the pics that follow the body on this ’55 Big Window is in fantastic condition and was done right! The body panels are extremely straight and everything lines up great. Doors open and shut really well. The Hot Rod Flatz paint that was applied to this Truck was done professionally and looks awesome. I personally love the color combination and everyone who has been to our showroom lately has complimented the color. This paint is very easy to keep clean. All you need to do is spray a little windex on it and wipe it down. As you can see the Cream Yellow body is nicely accented by the Vanilla Shake colored roof. We had Larry from Conway’s Customs lay down just a few small touches of pin striping to help complete the look. Chrome trim, grille, and bumpers are all brand new. All of the glass is tinted and was replaced with new glass at the time of restoration. All of the weatherstripping was replaced and is new. The wood bed looks fantastic!! The new oak wood was stained and given 5 coats of clear. I will hesitate to say the body is perfect because I am sure the pickiest of buyers may be able to find a very minor flaw or two but it is very close and truly looks as good in person as it does in the pictures that follow. Here is a photo tour of the body:
The Cream Yellow and Vanilla color story continue on the interior of this beautiful truck. Custom bench seat in the vanilla color looks awesome and is super comfortable. Fold down arm rest is a nice touch. Door panels and headliner were also done in the vanilla color and the rest of the dash and interior metal were finished in the same Hot Rod Flatz Cream Yellow color. Great set of Dolphin gauges were neatly installed and work correctly. A tach was neatly added and a beautiful polished Tilt steering Column with Custom Polished and Vanilla wrapped steering wheel finish out the look. 23″ Lokar Automatic shifter is mounted comfortable for the driver. The original radio hole was filled and a nice am/fm/cd player with remote was installed under the bench seat with speakers behind the seat. For those of you who need ice cold air conditioning a Vintage Air Conditioning system was neatly installed as well. Basically the interior still looks very original but with a few modern upgrade touches that add to the comfort and enjoyment of the truck. Take a Look:
Under the hood sits a nice, ground pounding, big block 454 V8 that was rebuilt with a mild cam. The gentleman we bought the truck from did not have much information on the motor as it was already in the truck when he bought it but he checked the compression and it seems to be very strong and fresh. It has an electric fuel pump feeding the fuel through the Edelbrock 4bbl Carburetor. Great sounding dual exhaust that exits neatly under the rear fenders. Smooth shifting 700R4 Automatic Transmission that was rebuilt. The c-notched rear end is a 10 bolt posi with 3:73 gears. With the 700R4 transmission this truck runs very comfortably at highway speeds. This truck runs nice and cool with an aluminum radiator and electric cooling fans. As you can see the engine bay is nicely detailed with a bit of chrome and a great custom painted old school air cleaner. Battery was relocated from the firewall to under the passenger side floor. All new wiring with an e-z wiring harness. Power steering and power front disc brakes make this old Hot Rod an easy truck to drive!!!!Front clip is believed to be from a 1974 Camaro. It handles the road beautifully and has a nice stance thanks in part to the Raceline 18″ wheels in back and 17’s up fronts with brand new rubber on all 4 corners. As you will see the undercarriage is very clean and rust free as well. It was nicely detailed and neatly assembled for a very clean look.
Make sure you listen to the video that follows the pictures below to hear the awesome lope and rumble from this big block!!
