This particular car was special ordered direct from the builder and delivered in January, 2023. The customer had a home in Connecticut and one in Florida and this car was enjoyed in both states and is currently titled in Florida. The owner has had his fun with the car and has decided it is time to move on to the next toy so it is available for the next lucky owner to enjoy without the long wait time on a new build.
I have bought and sold used 356 Speedster Replicas, built by various manufacturers , for over 15 years so I have seen quite a few. These cars are built on custom shortened, reconditioned VW chassis with a reinforced steel sub frame. The hand laid fiberglass body is top quality and workmanship is second to none. The gentleman who had this one this built picked an original color available in early 1956 called Speedster Blue ( Speedsterblau R602). It was a color he saw on a real 356 Speedster that was in a Porsche Museum that was originally owned by a member of the Porsche family. It is a beautiful shade of blue and he added quite a few GT styled options to make it stand out even more. As you will see it has the GT styled gas cap through the hood, and GT louvered engine lid. It has the correct beehive styled taillights for a 1956 and a Spyder shine down license plate light. Spyder side view mirrors mounted on the fenders add to the sporty look. Front and rear bumpers have the GT stainless trim and an amber lens set of fog lights are mounted on the front bumper.
Shortly after the car arrived to him in January, 2023 he had the paint ceramic coated and completely covered in Xperia Full PPF paint protection film. As a result the paint and body are essentially flawless as you will see in the pics below.
I always recommend driving these cars top down but of course it also has a full tan canvas soft top with matching boot cover and window inserts.

Complementing the stunning Speedster Blue exterior is an equally stunning Cognac colored leather interior. The customer actually ordered this leather directly from Porsche and it was sent to the builder to use throughout the interior. Tan German square weave carpeting adorns the interior and a custom set of coco mats was added. The Speedster seats are very comfortable. Matching dash pad and passenger side grab handle. Period correct VDO gauges with GPS Speedometer and a digital odometer allow the driver to monitor the speed and performance of this air cooled Speedster. Beautiful woodgrain steering wheel with a vintage style turn signal lever adds to the authenticity. This 356 is also optioned with heated seats for both driver and passenger for those of you in cooler climates. And, for those of you in the warmer zones this one also has Air Conditioning that is currently blowing nice and cold. This one also has the Parking brake mounted under dash adding to the authenticity. It also has the retrosound bluetooth stereo neatly mounted. Shelf pad behind the front seats. Check it out:
Turn the key and let the fun begin!!! This Speedster was driven and enjoyed in the beautiful weather and has accumulated just 2500 miles on it. As impressed as I was with the cosmetic improvements on these new builds I am equally impressed with the performance these new cars offer. The 2332 cc. is a brand new, fully balanced motor with top quality components from CB Performance and built by Pat Downs Performance.Rated at 125 hp with the dual Kadron carburetors and 8.2:1 compression ratio this motor pulls strong and crisp. I would be happy to provide more technical data on the engine build for those who need it. Transmission is a 3.44 ring and pinion for easy highway cruising. This combination provides excellent torque and acceleration in 1st-3rd and also allows easy highway cruising at 75 mph. Other features include electronic ignition, stock dog house oil cooler and remote 72pass oil cooler with electric fan thermostatically controlled. Empi 4 wheel disc brakes. This one was also ordered with the IRS , independent rear suspension for the best handling during spirited drives and an amazing set of Rudge Knock off styled polished aluminum 15″ wheels were selected. They were wrapped in the upgraded Pirelli P4 rubber as well. Great vintage tone from upgraded A1 performance single exit exhaust. The customer selected the GT Styled gas cap through the hood which also includes a slightly larger 12 gallon fuel tank painted to match the car. The rest of the trunk is finished in matching German square weave carpeting. The undercarriage is also nicely detailed and floorpan protected with a bed liner material to ensure it lasts the test of time. Make sure you watch the video to hear this car start up and running.
